Singing Blackbird

Mallard duck swimming on the River Wansbeck

Catching up on my blogging

Once again I seem to have been busy letting life get in the way of my blogging, but I am still managing to take a photo each day. I'm quite proud of myself, nearly a third of the way through the year.

Fog Bank in Northumberland

My photo of the 6th of April is actually supposed to be of a fog bank that was on the coast all day. It was strange it was sunny and warm apart from a thick bank of fog about half a mile in from the coast. What was stranger was that everywhere along the coast was still really busy. My husband and I went out for the day, but after trying various places we ended up eating at Macdonalds.

Pear tree

On the 7th I was once again back at work on early shifts, but the weather was still nice and sunny. After doing some gardening I decided to take a photo of the blossom buds on my pear tree, a week later and I'm still waiting for them to flower :).

On the 8th I decided to take a photo across the allotments, down to the river and across to Ashiongton on the other side. It's a view I quite like, even if it is odd.

On the 9th there was a blackbird singing in the street, it was quite noisy I think because my cat was there. Last year I had one that used to chirp every time it saw her and even tried to go for her a few times, I'm wondering if this is the same one.

On the Friday I had to work, but after that I went into Morpeth with my dad. It was a lovely afternoon and we had a walk along the river, we saw the cormorant and lots of ducks.

Early April's Photos of the day

The first photo I took this month was of one of the Easter eggs I'd bought for my step grandsons. The eldest has recently announced that he no longer likes batman, so |I felt the cute rocket was a safer choice than a branded egg. Sadly the egg is still at my house, as due to car trouble we've not yet had a chance to take it to their house.

My second photo of the month is of one of my blackberry bushes, they are just starting to grow, and are one of my favourite plants as the berries are so versatile.

On Goof Friday I went to nearby Morpeth with my mum and dad, my photo of the day is of the stepping stones which cross the river Wansbeck. They are actually called the bakery steps. I've not yet been across them, as I only recently discovered them, but I might give it a go in the summer.

Saturday's photo was of my cat Termie, she was having a wash, but I like it as it looks like she is hiding from the camera.

Sunday's photo was of the first butterfly I've seen this year. I had to look it up, but it's a small tortoiseshell.

Catching up after Easter and working

The end of March and first week in April seems to have flown by, and I can't believe how behind I am.

I think I'll just post my photos up to the end of March and then I'll add a new post for April.

Thinking back I don't think anything very exciting happened to me in the last few days of March. I had a couple of days of work, and the weather was ok, it's hard to remember as the last week it has really improved.

South Beach in Blyth

On the Sunday me and my husband went down to Blyth beach. The weather was quite showery and we got wet so I could take this photo. South beach in Blyth is quite popular, and we had chips for the first time in the local fish restaurant. We've not been before as normally it's just too busy, and we don't like waiting. It was a bit quieter on Sunday due to the showers, although there were still only a couple of empty tables. The food was quite nice, although if I'm honest nothing special.

Cormorant on the river Wansbeck, in Morpeth

On Monday I went to Morpeth with my dad, we were lucky as the cormorant was sat on a log in the river. This is the second time we've seen him. As photographing wildlife goes he's pretty easy as he just sits their for ages, I even managed to get a video of him. I'm always pleased to see any wildlife though.

Large Yellow Daffodil

On Tuesday I was at work, but when I went to my garden I realised that my larger daffodil was flowering, so I decided to take a photo. Things are slowly starting to grow in my garden which is nice to see.

Happy Easter

Hi

I hope all my readers have had a nice Easter weekend.

Here in the north east of England we've been spoiled the last two days by sunshine. We've had some and it's starting to feel like spring, and dare I say it even a hint of summer.

Today I saw my first bee of the year and yesterday my first butterfly. So even though I was at work Saturday and Sunday, it's been a good Easter.
