April's last days and Photos

April, as I've said seemed to fly over in a rush of being busy, and constantly trying to catch up and not quite managing it.

The 27th's photo of the day is of my fridge magnets, it was late I'd had a busy day and was lacking inspiration.

That said I think some of the most interesting photos I've taking so far in this challenge, are those which I've been forced to take. They say something more about me day to day. The fridge magnets are ones I've either bought on holiday or have been a gift from my parents when they've been on holiday.

The 28th's photo is of some scones my husband baked, they were very tasty :)

The 29th's photo is of some chickens which had strayed into the back lane from one of the neighbouring allotments.

I also couldn't resist taking one of my new tomato plants. I bought them from someone I know looking like this.

Finally the 30th's was another foggy and cloudy sky effect. I was trying to show how the sky was changing between the two.

More April Photos of the Day

So continuing my photos of the day and looking back at April.

I realise now April had some lovely sunny weather, something which May so far has lost. We enjoyed many days sat in the garden, and as a result I got some great photos.

The 21st's photo is of my cat enjoying some cheese in our garden. We were eating cheese and crackers and she decided she wanted to try some.

English Robin

The 22nd's photo is one of my favourites of the whole year. It's an English Robin, and I was lucky enough to get a lovely clear photo of him on my tree.

The 23rd's photo shows my apple and pear tree against a lovely blue sky.

On the 24th I went to nearby Amble with my dad. We went on his Harley Davidson, which is a lovely bike, and good fun, and yes I know he has a pole sticking in his head :).

Still Catching up with April's Photos

So as I said in my last post I am really far behind with my blogging and posting of my bucket list challenge to take a photo a day for a year.

Cambois beach, Northumberland

On the 15 April I went for a walk down to nearby Cambois beach. I loved the daffodils growing along the sand dunes, they really are a hardy flower.

On the 16th my husband went to look at a car in Penshaw in County Durham. At the same time he took me up to Penshaw monument as I had only seen it from a distance. Penshaw is a folly built by the \Earl of Durhum, and was built to be a smaller replica of the Temple of Hephaestus which is in Athens.

On the 17th I went to visit the large land form Northumberlandia with my dad. Every time I go I'm impressed by the views and by the good job they did creating her.

The 18th was one of those days I'm busy, usually with work and quickly need  photo. My choice this time was of one of the charms on my charm bracelet. It's the Tower of London.

The 19th's photo was another quick snap, this time of the view outside, including the lovely forsythia bush.

Finally the 20th's photo is again of my pear blossom, this time flowering. The tree really does look lovely, and hopefully depending on how windy it is I'll get lots of pears later in the year.

Early May

May is another month which seems to be flying by, but I have already done some great things.

Wansbeck stepping stones

On the 1st of May my dad and me went to the nearby village of Bothal. We had a walk around and a look at the stepping stones. These ones are hard to get to because of the bank, but the stepping stones themselves are easy to cross if the river is quite low.

On the 2nd I went down to nearby Cambois, and took this photo of the beach looking across to Newbiggin. Cambois is my local beach, and somewhere I enjoy going, as it's a lovely quiet sandy beach.

On the 3rd it was quite cold and grey, my cat didn't like the weather and I got  this picture of her sleeping on my husband.

The weather on the 4th was a bit better, and I again took the oppourtunity to sit in the garden and enjoy a cup of tea. At the same time I was lucky enough to get this photo of a female robin, she was keeping a sharp eye on my cat.

On the 5th I told my husband we had to go somewhere so I could take my photo of the day, and he pulled in at nearby Earth Balance.. This is a small trout fishing lake.

April's flew by, and my photo's of the day

Here I am behind with my blogging and photos again, I really do need to catch up but life keeps getting in the way. Now of course it's May and I've missed most of April.

I have still kept up with my bucket list challenge of taking a photo each day for a year though.

The 11 of April's photo is of a chaffinch which was down next to the River Wansbeck, it kindly hung around long enough for me to get a photo.

On the 12th of April I decided to have a play with my camera settings, and it was the turn of shutter speed. Shutter speed is great for freezing action, so for example you can see the water drops.

To take this I used a higher shutter speed setting of about 900 and then lightened the photo.

On the 13th of April I planted a rockery plant my dad had bought me. I love the little purple flowers, and hopefully it will do well.

The fourteenth's photo is of a lucky little hedge sparrow, it had been brought in the house by my cat. Luckily we managed to find it in time and to release it in the bushes, were it hopped off minus just a few feathers.

English Robin Video

My video of a robin visiting my garden, I've been lucky enough to see a few this year. Partly because I also feed the birds.

The English robin is different from robins in most other countries, a bit smaller and plumper.

A English Robin

The male robin has the distinct red breast, the female robin is brown as you can see from the photos below.

My Northumberlandia Video

Northumberlandia's face

My video of Northumberlandia, a giant land form in the shape of a lady in south east Northumberland in the UK.

I'm lucky enough to live about 8 miles from it, and have been a few times, but otherwise I definitely think it has bucket list potential.
